Egg cell donation is not allowed by law in Austria or Germany.
The KinderWunschKlinik therefore works with a centre in Spain and in the Czech Republic when egg cell donation is required.
Women who reach the menopause prematurely (a disease called POF syndrome which can be genetic), women whose ovarian “reserves” are extremely limited and women whose eggs are extremely damaged, can be treated in our clinic. Women who are in danger of having a disabled child due to a genetic flaw can also profit from egg donation. Women who had to go through chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer treatment can also use donated egg cells.
At the beginning of this treatment a detailed discussion takes place with the couple in order to establish whether egg donation is the appropriate treatment or not. If the patient qualifies as a receiver her cycle is then hormonally regulated and optimized for the insertion of a donated cell. For this purpose she receives oestrogen and progesterone. The KinderWunschKlinik establishes the correct plan and supervises the stimulation. The receiver’s menstruation cycle has to be synchronized with the donor’s. On the same day as the donor’s cell puncture, the male partner supplies a sperm sample. This sample is then prepared and used for later fertilisation of the donated egg
